What is CBT?

CBT is an evidence-based therapy widely used to support people experiencing anxiety and depression. It hinges on the view that how we think, behave and feel, both emotionally and physically, are all connected.

By working together collaboratively, we can begin to make sense of things. We can start to identify and make changes to any unhelpful patterns of thinking or behaviour.

CBT focuses on the here and now, drawing on the past to understand how these patterns have come about. Over the years, we may have learned to cope in certain ways during tough times, but often the very things that used to help us manage may have become the problem and a barrier to living life to the full.

The good news is that together, with compassion and empathy, we can find new perspectives and ways to cope so you can reach your goals.

CBT sits well with other therapeutic approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy which can be integrated to support you best.
